What is Stoicism?

Stoicism is a practical philosophy from ancient Greece, later developed in Rome, built on one distinction: some things are up to you and some are not. Your judgments and your actions belong to you. Most of the rest does not. At Stoic State University we teach that distinction as a daily habit, through structured courses and free resources. You learn to reframe stress, to separate what happened from the story you told yourself about it, and to make steadier decisions when a day goes badly. Stoicism 101 covers the foundations, with more advanced courses after it. Along the way you get exercises, audio guides, and quizzes you can keep coming back to. Start with Stoicism 101 and see what changes in an ordinary week.

Stoicism offers ways to think through difficult situations before you react. You learn to treat a setback as practice and to notice that much of what you feel comes from the judgment you add to an event. Our online courses and resources turn those ideas into habits, so you have a few practices to use during a hard week.
